Motorsport Safety Films

Smashgard….. the leading safety film specialists for the motorsport industry, installing clear polyester safety films to the glass to prevent injury to drivers and co drivers.

Fully installed and bonded to the internal side of all windows of the vehicle (except the windscreen unless requested), the polyester 4mil safety film we install on all race cars will strengthen the existing glass in an attempt to prevent breakage. Due to the vigorous driving and high impact risk with other vehicle’s, obstacles and of the vehicle rolling, the film may eventually break.
Expanding both the film and glass within the framework, the film will lock the glass into the vehicle preventing fragments from entering the cockpit and showering the occupants with glass. Forming a barrier to those inside, in the event of an emergency, placing your hand within the middle of the film and giving a short quick push will release the glass and film from the framework. Bonding the broken glass to the film, the film will drop out of the framework leaving the exit area completely clean with no visible fragments to injure the occupants as they climb out through the escape route.
With the glass fully bonded to the outer side of the film, fragments will be contained outside of the vehicle.

Smashgard Safety and Security films can also be installed to the windows of the support vehicles transporting cars to and from race circuits. Thicker and with stronger mounting adhesives, our Security films will strengthen the glass to Bomb Blast capabilities, withstanding attacks from numerous implements and preventing theft of either the vehicle or its contents.
