Questions

of questions asked from us over the years,
please scroll down to find out a particular
answer about Safety & Security window film, Car
window tinting, Commercial, Residential &
Conservatory window films.
Safety
and Security Window Film
Q. On the Security Window film pages, it
lists the gauge of the film as 10mil, isn't this
too thick, stopping the window on vehicles from
opening and closing?
A. The film is classed as 10 mil - 250 microns
in English measurement (the thickness of thin
cardboard) not millimetres which confuses most
people. This will give maximum security without
affecting the operation of the window mechanism.
Q. If a criminal cannot break into my vehicle
or property, how will we be able to get out in
the event of an accident or emergency?
A. For security reasons we cannot disclose
details of how to exit from your vehicle or
property from details listed on this website. We
can assure you that the emergency services know
all about security window film and the ways of
getting into your property in the event of an
accident. The film is made in such a way that it
is quite easy to exit from the vehicle or
building for people with disabilities, the
elderly and even small children. We can only
explain how to do this once we have installed
the film to the windows on your property.
Q. Is it expensive?
A. No. It is a small price to pay for the
maximum in safety and security and works out
more cost effective than other methods of
security including window bars and shutters on
residential and commercial properties. With all
of the benefits of having a security window film
installed, this is a serious option to consider.
Q. Will the 4mil ( 100 microns) give me a
high level of security?
A. No. We only install 4mil window films as
a basic safety film package to hold the glass in
place, forming a barrier in the event of an
accident. We have undertaken a number of tests
on a variety of applications and it will not
give you the level of security that we feel that
you require. Therefore, for security, we will
only recommend 7mil Security films and above
ensuring that you have the every best form of
protection available on the present market.
Q. I have one window that needs protecting,
would you come out to do it?
A. This all depends on your location and the
size of the window. Please contact us either by
phone or email and we can then discuss your
requirements with you to see if this is
possible.
Q. My company is based in Northamptonshire,
would you be able to provide us with a quotation
of your Security window films?
A. Yes. Although based in Daventry, just
outside of Northampton, we specialise in
providing an installation service to companies
requiring this form of protection throughout the
county. Contact us today and we can arrange to
visit to discuss your requirements with you at
your premises to provide you with the very best

us with a quote for your films?

Car Window Tinting
Q. Can you tint the front Drivers and
Passengers front window glass?
A. Unfortunately the law
states that the VLT (Visual Light Transmission)
on the drivers and passengers front window glass
cannot fall below the legal limit of 70%. Most
modern cars do have a factory tint on these
windows but all stay above the legal limit of
70% with most tints falling between 71 and 80%.
For window glass showing slightly above the
legal limit on tint meters, it would not be
beneficial installing a film onto the glass
bringing the film from 77% to 71% (Example) as
it would hardly be noticeable and a waste of
money. The complications of having a tint
installed to the front windows of your car are
far greater than the benefits as you will see
below and is under no circumstances recommended!
Please do not ask us to tint your front windows
when ringing for a quotation as this will be
refused. All quotations given are for
installation of a tint to the rear glass only
from the ‘B’post backwards.
Q. So what are the implications of having the
front windows of my car tinted?
A. Whether you have a very light tint or
dark limo film installed to these windows,
anything below the legal limit of 70% will
subject you to any of the following penalties
with ALL Traffic police now carrying a
tint meter within their vehicles.
-
For a routine stop by the
police, if the tint on your front windows is
found to be below the legal limit of 70%,
you could be subject to a £60 fine and 3
points on your driving license.
-
In the event of a vehicle
accident caused by you, if the film is found
to have restricted your vision you could be
subjected to a £60 fine, 3 points on your
licence and the possibility of prison in the
event of a fatality.
-
With all insurance
policies, you MUST state if your vehicle has
a tinted film (even a light tint) to the
front drivers and passenger front windows.
If you inform them that you have, they will
not insure you. If you don’t and you are
involved in accident either caused by you or
a another driver, if it is found that a tint
has been installed to your front windows,
you will automatically be uninsured and your
expensive car will be worth nothing but
scrap value. This is something many window
tinting companies won’t tell you just to get
your business, is it worth the risk! Of the
10 major insurance companies we contacted,
none would insure a car with any tint
installed to these front windows below the
legal limit of 70%.
-
Any tint found on the
front drivers and passenger glass by an MOT
tester could deem your vehicle as an MOT
failure.
-
Whether the film
installed on your windows is of a light or
dark tint, driving at night can be
treacherous with visibility in side mirrors
being dramatically reduced on busy roads and
motorways, increasing your chances of having
a vehicle accident.
As a professional
window tinting company and with your best
interest at heart, this is the reason why we
will not tint the front windows of your car
under any circumstances. Unless of course, proof
can be given that the vehicle will not be used
on the public roads and the vehicle is used for
shows and transported to events on the back of a
trailer.
Q. How long will it take to tint my car?
A. It all depends on the size of the vehicle
and the number of windows requiring a tint. For
a small 3door hatchback it will take between 1
and 2 hours and for a larger 4 x 4, roughly
between 3 and 4 hours.
Q. Will the film rip or peel off?
A. No. We use only the very best window
films available on the market which have a very
strong adhesive and an anti-scratch coating to
prevent damage from watches, rings etc.
Q. Will the film fade?
A. Unlike the cheaper ‘smoke’ tinting films
found at most car accessory shops which only
have a 1 year guarantee against fading, we only
install the very best window films available on
the market. Using only the very best techniques,
our films are manufactured using colour stable
dyes which have a lifetime guarantee giving you
that extra piece of mind and real value for
money.
Q. Do I get a warranty certificate with my
installation?
A. After the installation has taken place on
your vehicle, you will be issued with a full
installation and manufacturers warranty
certificate.
From the date of the install, you will receive a
lifetime installation and manufacturers warranty
fully guaranteed against Scratches, Rips,
Peeling, De-lamination of the film and
discolouration.
Q. How much will it cost to tint my car?
A. Prices vary depending on whether it is a
small 3 door hatchback or large 4x4. Our prices
are very competitive and start from as little as
£40. For a quotation, please contact us using
any of the methods listed on our Contact Us page
by clicking here.
Q. Do you offer a vehicle collection/drop
off service?
A. Yes we do! We do have a fully
comprehensive motor trader’s insurance policy
which does allow us to drive any vehicle that
you have. We can arrange to collect your vehicle
from your home or place of work and return it
once the installation has been completed
depending on your location.
Q. What areas do you cover?
A. We provide a window tinting service for
Daventry, Northampton, Towcester, Silverstone,
Brackley, Banbury, Wellingborough, Rushden,
Kettering, Corby, Rugby & Southam. Basically if
you want your cars windows tinted, anywhere in
Northamptonshire or the surrounding borders
close to Daventry including Warwickshire,
Bedfordshire, Oxfordshire & Leicestershire. You
can bring your vehicle to either of our 2
workshops in Daventry or Duston and wait whilst
we tint your car or we can drop you into the
nearest town and collect you once your car is
finished. The vehicle collection/ drop off
service is available but please contact us so
that we can advise you if this service is
available to you. If you have a clean, dust free
facility that we can use, we can tint the car at
your premises but this depends on location.
Residential Solar Window Films
Q. Neighbours and passers by keeping looking
into my home. I want privacy but I don’t like
the reflective silver window film?
A. We have over 350 films
available to us to provide you with a solution
to this. The most popular of our films for your
home is a neutral non reflective window film
designed to give you privacy but from the
outside, won’t stand out compared to the silver
mirror films mostly seen on commercial
buildings. Once installed to your glass, this
neutral window film will provide you with the
privacy you deserve yet from the outside it is
virtually impossible to tell that a film has
been applied. From the inside you would never
know that there’s a film on the glass, it really
is that good.
Q. I want to stop glare on the computer
screen and television. Is there anything to stop
this?
A. Yes. The neutral window films we highly
recommend for homes will dramatically reduce the
glare on these screens without you having to
close blinds or curtains in the day, allowing
the natural sunlight in but not the glare.
Q. My home gets cold in the winter. Will your
window films keep the heat in?
A. Yes. We specialise in 2 heat retention
films designed to retain heat in the winter,
providing energy efficiency within your home.
Installed to a double glazed unit, the film will
retain 18% of the heat, preventing heat loss
through the glass and allowing the room to warm
up, preventing excessive use of gas fires and
central heating systems. Turning heating systems
down by just 1 degree could save you 10% on your
annual utility bills and this has been confirmed
by the energy saving trust.
With a single glazed window, 28% of the heat
will be reflected back into the room, keeping
you even warmer on those cold winters’ nights
and saving you even more money annually. A
totally energy efficient window film in every
respect, the film will keep the room warmer in
the winter, cooler in the summer, prevent glare
from the sun and dramatically reducing fading on
furnishings providing you with protection 12
months of the year.
Q. Will your window film prevent my carpet
and furniture from fading,
A. Although our window films contain a
Ultraviolet inhibitor to protect carpets,
fabrics & furniture from fading, it will not
stop it completely. Our window films will
dramatically reduce the effects of fading and
could double the lifespan of your carpet and
furniture in some cases. Damaging Ultraviolet
from the sun plays a small percentage with
natural light, heat, ageing and humidity all
playing a major part in the fading process.
Conservatory Solar Window
Film
Q. Do you install the film on the inside or
the outside of the glass?
A. We install the
film to the inside of the glass rather than the
outside as it then entitles you to the maximum
warranties of both a 5 year installation and 10
year manufacturers warranty. By installing it on
the outside, your warranty would be halved so it
is more beneficial to have the film installed to
the inside.
Q. The film you install to my conservatory,
will it make the room dark?
A. No. We
specialise in installing only the very best
window films available to your conservatory to
allow natural light into the room yet will
protect you and the contents of the room from
the sun.
Q. How do I go about cleaning the film; do I
need any special chemicals?
A. All that’s
required is a gentle clean with a soapy solution
and kitchen towelling. A standard garden hand
sprayer mixed 1 part washing up liquid, 100
parts water will clean the film to a high
standard without leaving smears and protecting
the film for many years to come.
Q. I have a specialised glass installed to
the roof of my conservatory, can you install a
window film on this?
A. Yes, this
is something we have done on a number of
installations to conservatory roof glass and
will not cause any problems. We have found that
our window films are more effective than this
specialised glass alone and will reject the heat
and glare dramatically, allowing you to use the
room on the hottest of days.
Q. Will I be able to see out through the
window film installed to my conservatory roof,
both day and night?
A. Yes.
Although there are a number of single ply
reflective window films available for
conservatory roofs, with our vast experience we
recommend the installation of a specialised 2
ply film. Reflective on the outer layer to
reject the excessive heat and glare, the inner
layer is non reflective, allowing you to look up
and out through the glass both day and night
with minimal reflectance.
Q. Do I have to clean the glass prior to you
coming to install the film?
A. No, that’s
not necessary. We clean the glass a minimum of 4
times prior to the film being applied to ensure
that it is spotlessly clean and free from
contamination, providing you with a very
professional installation.
Q. Do you need me to move all the furniture
out of the conservatory, ready for you to
install the film?
A. We
understand that heavy furniture can be awkward
to move and therefore we will do all this for
you. All that we ask is that small items be
removed prior to us arriving so that our
installers can then move the larger items for
you. Once the installation is complete, we will
return all of the large furniture back as it was
and to your satisfaction prior to leaving.
Q. I live the other side of the country,
would your installers come out this far?
A. Based in
Daventry, Northamptonshire our central location
means we are more than happy to assist you
wherever you are in the UK. We have completed
installations of our Conservatory window films
to conservatories all over the country and would
be happy to carry out an installation of our
films for you. Please contact us by clicking
here and we will discuss your requirements
and the information required to provide you with
a very competitive quotation.
Including Daventry, we have installed our
Conservatory solar window films throughout
Northamptonshire including Northampton,
Wellingborough, Rushden, Kettering, Corby,
Towcester and Brackley.

window films have been installed in
